Mr Andrew Mark PhD
Director of Systems,
Sensor Technology Ltd
Canada
Andrew Mark serves as the Director of Systems at Sensor Technologies Ltd., where he leads the team responsible for the design, development and production of multi-element underwater acoustic sensor systems. Before joining STL he was the Director of Photonics at Meta Materials Inc., developing high-performance optical components based on volume holographic gratings. He led a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers responsible for the end-to-end technology roadmap of holographic optical combiners for augmented reality and other display applications. Prior to that, he spent five years as a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart, Germany where he was awarded the Gunter Petzow Prize for outstanding research in the field of materials science. He holds a PhD in physics from Queen’s University for work on atomic resolution scanning tunneling microscopy of semiconductor defect structures. He has authored over 45 journal papers and has research interests in optical augmented reality, optical and acoustic holography, large-scale fabrication techniques for 3D nanostructures, chiral plasmonics, and mechanical metamaterials.
