Studied Communications Engineering at the German Armed Forces University and gained his di-ploma as Communications Engineer. Served as an Officer in several positions of the German Air Force in the electronic warfare branch. Joined in 1993 Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft and after gaining experience as an Engineer in submarine Combat Systems and in various leading positions, he became in 2007 Senior Vice President of Combat Systems, Logistics and R&D of Naval Surface Ship Department TKMS Blohm & Voss in Hamburg. Responsibilities as Head of Submarine Engineering and Technical Project Director laid the basis for becoming Head of Product Management Submarines in 2020.
