
Commander Jon Arild Brath Strandnaes
National:
Joined the Royal Norwegian Navy July 1985 as a conscript.
An electronics serviceman, bachelor degree in automation, educated in acoustics followed by officers degree from Royal Norwegian naval Academy.
Operational service as a weapons-, sensors- and systems engineer on submarines (Kobben class and MCMVs (Oksøy- and Alta classes) until 1997.
Teaching, training and responsible for education and training for MCMV personnel for weapons, sensors and systems until 2012 at the Royal Norwegian Training Establishment.
Staff officer (policy) in Royal Norwegian Navy Staff 2012-2016.
Joined the Norwegian Defence Material Agency/ Naval Systems Division (NDMA/NSD) in 2016 as head for Underwater Weapons and Sensors section.
Current position, since February 2024 is being staff officer for international relations in NDMA/NSD.
International:
Is the chair of NATO NNAGs Underwater Warfare Capability Group (UWWCG) and its underlying Anti-Submarine Warfare Syndicate (ASW-S), since 2017.
Is the Norwegian Head of Delegation (HoD) to NATO NNAGs Joint Capability Group on Maritime Unmanned Systems (JCG MUS). Has been a part of JCG MUS since the start-up in 2019.
