Mr. Matthieu Abautret
Matthieu Abautret is a Research and Innovation Engineer at Naval Group’s CEMIS (Center of Expertise for Information Dominance, Human Factors, and Signatures). He holds an engineering background in Human Movement Sciences (MSc, 2013), focusing on biomechanics, motor control, and physiology. He began his career at Nexter Systems, applying biomechanics and anthropometry to armored vehicle architecture. Since joining Naval Group in 2017, he has focused primarily on submarine programs. Initially serving as a Human Factors Engineer, he optimized general arrangements and workspace design while leading R&D efforts on digital modeling to account for the anthropometric variability of different navies. From 2019 to 2022, he acted as the Human Factors Lead, overseeing engineering requirements, work organization, and workspace/HMI design. Since 2022, he has been engaged in a PhD program in Biomechanics, investigating the impact of static and dynamic floor inclinations on sailors' force production capabilities. In his current role at CEMIS, he develops realistic biomechanical models to improve design specifications for the naval environment and expands this research to advanced operator modeling and monitoring (including fatigue, stress and cognitive load).
