Telecommunications engineer and former Italian Navy Officer, Mirko Stifani has over twenty years of experience in research, experimentation and development of underwater and autonomous systems. After leading the Underwater Warfare Office at the Italian Navy’s Naval Support and Experimentation Centre (CSSN), he joined Fincantieri in 2023 as Product Leader for Unmanned Systems, supporting the Group’s positioning in the underwater domain.
He currently serves as Chief Technology Officer of IDS (Fincantieri NexTech), where he coordinates the Product and Technology activities of the Fincantieri Underwater Hub, focusing on unmanned systems, advanced sensing, underwater acoustics and digital technologies for subsea surveillance and infrastructure protection.
Author and co-author of several scientific publications in NATO and EU contexts, he actively contributes within the NATO Industry Advisory Group (NIAG), participating in the Underwater Warfare Capability Group (UWWCG) and the Joint Capability Group on Maritime Unmanned Systems (JCGMUS).
