Reinier Tan holds an MSc degree in Astrophysics from Leiden University. Since joining the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) in 2009, he has contributed to the Defence, Safety and Security division for over 17 years. His work spans a broad range of topics, including advanced radar signal processing, Non-Cooperative Target Recognition (NCTR), and Electronic Support Measures (ESM).
Currently, Reinier serves as a senior scientist specializing in (quantum) magnetic sensing. He leads multiple applied research projects focused on magnetic signature reduction, underwater detection, and—his personal favourite—Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD).
