Rune gained an M.Sc. degree in engineering physics from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2000, he became vice president of marine technology, heading up engineering R&D in Petroleum Geo-services (a seismic company). Among other things he developed dual-sensor cable which uses both particle motion and pressure to detect the seismic signals. For this he was the recipient of the Reginald Fessenden Award. In 2020 he started his own company to pursue Marine Vibrator technology and new sensor technology based on distributed acoustic sensing. Rune has more than 60 patents.
