Dr Lara Flanagan PhD
Lara Flanagan is a Research Fellow in Acoustics at Trinity College Dublin, working within the ADAPT Research Centre and collaborating with the IRIS network.
Her research focuses on underwater acoustics and fibre-optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS), where she develops large-scale monitoring systems using subsea cables. She is currently leading work on the Sea-Scan project, transforming fibre-optic infrastructure into acoustic sensing platforms for maritime detection and environmental monitoring.
She previously worked on advanced noise control and acoustic materials, including aeroacoustic liner design in collaboration with Safran Aircraft Engines. Her work combines modelling, experiments, and emerging technologies to advance acoustic monitoring and control.
