Matthew joined the Royal Navy in 1998 as a Weapons Artificer, later selected for Officer Training as a Weapon Engineer (Submarines) encompassing a broad and rewarding career, serving in various classes of Submarines with the occasional detour to a Surface Vessel. A considerable portion of his later career was delivering waterfront support running the Weapons Workshops in HMNB Clyde initially alongside, and later for, Babcock. Joining Thales in early 2024 as a Chief Technologist with a strong focus on emerging, lower TRL, optronics technologies and assessing their viability for use in the Naval environment.
